Investment supports CNIguard’s growth and expands integrated underground monitoring solutions for electric utilities
ATLANTA – June 16, 2026 – CNIguard, an industry innovator in underground safety and reliability sensors, Software as a Service (SaaS), and advanced analytics for electric utilities, today announced a strategic investment from TE Connectivity (NYSE: TEL), a global leader in connectivity and sensors.
Together, CNIguard and TE Connectivity (TE) provide utility customers with deeper insights into critical underground infrastructure through connected sensing, secure communications, scalable data infrastructure, and predictive analytics. The investment marks an important milestone in CNIguard’s growth and strengthens TE’s smart grid growth strategy.
CNIguard’s secure IoT monitoring platform delivers real-time visibility and historical trend analysis for underground infrastructure by leveraging infrared and visual imaging to identify emerging thermal anomalies, combustible gas detection and source analysis for insulation failure and natural gas leaks, and environmental monitoring to track water levels and flood conditions. Through its partnership with TE Connectivity, utilities also gain access to advanced electrical sensing technologies, including partial discharge detection, voltage and current monitoring, and fault detection.
The combination of CNIguard’s underground monitoring capabilities and software platform with TE’s advanced electrical sensing expertise creates a comprehensive end-to-end solution that integrates environmental, thermal, and electrical monitoring to provide utilities with an unprecedented digital view of underground grid assets.
“This investment represents a significant validation of CNIguard’s vision and the value our platform delivers to electric utilities,” said Chris Quire, Chief Executive Officer of CNIguard. “Our mission is to provide utilities with the intelligence they need to operate underground infrastructure more safely, reliably, and efficiently. TE Connectivity’s investment strengthens our ability to scale that mission while accelerating the delivery of integrated solutions that combine advanced sensing technologies with powerful software-driven analytics.”
“Underground networks are critical to grid reliability and are among the most challenging environments for utilities to monitor,” said Simon Matthieson, Vice President and General Manager, TE Energy – EMEA at TE Connectivity. “Our investment in CNIguard reflects our confidence in the company’s innovative platform and the value this combined solution can bring to utility customers.”
By bringing together CNIguard’s monitoring platform and analytics capabilities with TE Connectivity’s global reach, engineering expertise, and advanced sensing technologies, the companies are well positioned to help utilities transition from reactive maintenance practices to proactive, predictive grid operations.
